I love making art. I love to paint, draw and sketch. I have been drawing and painting for most of my life, and have fallen in love with the practice of creating art. I took studio art lessons for many years growing up, and learned how to create art that reflected a range of feeling, emotion, and memory. As a beginner, I learned to recreate still life scenes, bowls of fruit and ornate table settings. As I progressed with my lessons, my teachers permitted me to be more imaginative with my work. I was no longer required to recreate a scene that I did not choose, a scene that was placed before me by my teacher. As my skills advanced, I was suddenly allowed to paint my family, my dog, my childhood home.
I have so many memories of my years taking art lessons. I also remember how challenging classes were at times, how my hand cramped after a long evening of endless painting, how my work wasn’t always well received. While I acquired skills that helped me become a better artist, the thing I have carried with me the most, is my ability to create my own art. Before I started taking art lessons, it seemed I doodled on everything, attempting in whatever way I could to make something, anything. As I got older, and grew in my drawing and painting skills, I was able to create art that conveyed deep emotion and memory. Suddenly, I was capable of painting a scene from a birthday party, a family reunion, a basketball game. I was able to create and give life to the things that meant the most to me. I painted a portrait of my family when I was ten. The painting is still hanging in my parents’ house today!
When I think of what it means to bring a memory to life, I think about the amazing ability to make art. We have the power to make our own artwork intimate, special, and packed with meaning and memory. Art can be made in so many ways. To make art, we are not limited to paint, to sculpt, to draw, or to sketch. We can share photographs, videos, or pieces of written work. Art is so personal, and our creation of art should be personal, too.
As the holiday season approaches, we are all thinking carefully about how we can both create and give art. I love the idea of writing a story for somebody you love, as a way to share memories and convey meaning. I have also been thinking about creating photo albums or scrapbooks for friends and family. It seems that endless gift opportunities abound in the approaching holiday season, and it can be a challenge to find the right gift for the right person. I have found that creative gifts, that are somewhat more personal in nature are always a hit.
My holiday gift search has brought me to many places, but one has stood out from the rest, the Photo-to-text canvas. The Photo-to-text canvas is perhaps the best gift I have found to give this holiday season. It is creative, personal, and immensely unique. The Photo to text canvas incorporates the best elements of creative gift-giving and art.
What exactly is the Photo-to-text canvas? The Photo-to-text canvas is actually a photo that is made up of small words. From a distance, a complete photo can be seen, but as you approach, many, small pieces of text reveal themselves as actually comprising and creating the larger photo. The canvas is easy to create. Simply choose a favorite photo, and a cherished piece of text. Many customers choose photos of friends, family members, and pets. Because you are creating your unique Photo-to-text canvas, you may choose any photo you’d like! This is your art. For the text, customers often choose a piece of writing that reminds them of the one receiving the gift, You may also choose to use a written memory, story, or poem. Again, this is your creation, and there is no limit to what you may choose.
After you have selected your photo and your text, you will be asked to choose the size of your canvas. The canvases are available to order in several sizes, making it easy for you choose the proper size for your photo and home. If you are not interested in a physical canvas, or think the one receiving the gift would prefer their present in digital form, you may request that the finished product be sent directly to you in an image file. All physical canvases are ready to hang upon arrival.
I love making art. I love the exercise of capturing a special, intimate moment that can be held onto for a lifetime. Art brings some of our most treasured memories to life, and has the power to lift our spirits, make us laugh, and let us remember what it is we are grateful for. I can think of no better time to give a personalized, creative gift. The holidays are the most special time of year. We come together with family and friends, share memories, celebrate life and remember those who are no longer with us. What better way to celebrate all that we have, than with an artful and personalized gift. This holiday season, consider the gift of a Photo-to-text canvas.
